Bury2Bury Charity Bike Challenge for Breakthrough Breast Cancer – Done!
It all started on 11th June where the keen CNet team joined with other cycling amateurs to ride from Bury in Lancashire, back to the more gentle landscape of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, home of CNet’s UK headquarters.
After battling through torrential rain, tackling some very forgiving hills and clocking up a total of over 240 miles, the entire team arrived back in the Suffolk town of Bury St Edmunds yesterday (14th June). The CNet team alone raised over £15,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Andrew Steven’s, CNet Training’s Managing Director adds, “249 miles of hills, pot holes, railway crossings, canal paths, getting lost, punctures and broken bikes were just some of the highlights or our challenge. The weather changed from 24 degrees on the first day (hottest day of the year) to torrential rain for two days with wind in our faces – typical British weather.
It really was a challenge as we rode up hill after hill after hill, the down slopes didn’t seem to make us feel any better and of course always seemed a lot shorter than we wanted.
The CNet Training team members covered a collective mileage of 1245 miles without once getting off our bikes on the hills, we only stopped at the agreed stops and these never seemed long enough.. But as a team we are delighted to have raised just over £15,000. We are so very proud of what we achieved as individuals but more so at what we achieved as a team, the sponsorship we received was fantastic and that certainly drove us on when our thighs felt like they had nothing left. A big thanks to everyone who supported us.”
