I see this as a game-changer for the whole industry. At CBRE, we have data center technicians all over the world. The CNet program will ensure consistent service globally while also raising the bar across the industry, helping us to achieve a higher level of competence, personal development and officially certified technicians.
Congratulations on sailing through your competency and confidence assessment and gaining the official CDCTP® certification… How did you find it?
I found the assessment to be challenging but also relevant to the tasks that we perform within a data center. It was quite interesting to think about the confidence aspect of the answers. It is very seldom you have the time to reflect on the level of certainty of which you believe an answer to be true.
What advice do you have for your peers who might not have started their assessment/ professional development?
Take the time to really think about each question and how you would apply that statement in reality. Take the opportunity to reflect on your own personal development and utilise the professional development activities that are available to increase your knowledge.
How do you think the Certified Data Center Technician Professional (CDCTP®) certification will help your team?
It will give our team confidence that their skills and competence have been tested and proven by a third party, and allow for greater personal development.
From a personal perspective, how do you think the CDCTP® certification will help your role going forward?
I think it will bring a higher level of credibility in the industry, and I’m proud to have the certification.
How have your teams responded to the journey towards official CDCTP® certification?
Very positively, it is always a challenge to get people out of their day-to-day activities, but everyone has embraced the opportunity, and they appreciate the investment that CBRE has made into gaining this sought after and globally recognised certification.
